Our School’s Operations and Functions:
At Chaparral Elementary we provide students with a well rounded standards based instruction that is supported by the District’s adopted curricular programs. For Language Arts teachers implement the Treasures reading program Kindergarten-6th grade. We implement a conceptual math program, Investigations, for Kindergarten-5th grade and Connected Math for sixth grade. In order to meet the needs of all our students, teacher scaffold and differentiate their lessons and provide intervention when necessary following the Districts response to intervention model. The academic program is supplemented with art, physical education, library, technology and music classes for all students.

Why Our School is Unique:
Chaparral provides many opportunities for extracurricular activities to support the growth and development of our students. The school has a partnership with many community organizations such as Art Works, Cooking with Kids, Mozart y Mariachi and Service Learning. Band is offered for grades 5-6. There is also a YMCA after school program and several tutoring programs. Parent involvement is the driving force behind this community school. Chaparral has an active PTA whose fundraising activities support our educational needs. The parents also support our affiliation with the Santa Fe Independent Youth League by volunteering as coaches and attending the games. When it is time for our annual Halloween Carnival and Book Fair there is never a shortage of volunteers.
